The site covers an area of c. 1.9 hectares and is located to the north of Ardmore village, on lands adjacent and to the east of the R673 Dungarvan Road and to the west of Ardmore Beach. The site consisted of two irregularly shaped fields, divided by a fence, used as pastureland. A total of eleven test trenches were excavated to a natural depth of 0.3m. The topsoil consisted of a mid-brown silty clay. The natural consisted of a grey-brown sand with shells.
