2026:120 - Rathbraghan, Sligo, Sligo

A total of 12 linear test trenches with a combined length of 580m were proposed to be excavated within the site comprising three adjacent fields. Archaeological testing across the site demonstrated varying ground conditions across the three fields and produced no evidence of archaeological features, deposits, or structures.

Field 2 in particular was found to consist of substantial modern fill material, in excess of 2.3m in depth, likely derived from earlier construction works at the adjacent facility and subsequently spread across the field. The consistent nature and depth of this fill was confirmed through partial excavation of trenches across the field.

No features, or deposits of archaeological consequence were observed within the trenches during these investigations.
