2026:276 - Ballygalda or Trust, Roscommon

A programme of archaeological monitoring was undertaken on 27 August, 2026, in the townland of Ballygalda or Trust, Co. Roscommon, in response to a planning condition from Roscommon County Council. A total of 36m of linear trenches were excavated along the foundation footprint of the proposed structure; no archaeological material or features were present in the trenches. The topsoil ranged from 0.3–0.5m in depth and consisted of loose mid-grey made ground. The underlying soil consisted firm light brown to mid-greyish silty clay with patches of greyish brown silty clay.
