Icon Archaeology Ltd was commissioned to complete archaeological monitoring for an ESB mast project located in Ballymany, Newbridge, County Kildare. An archaeological assessment report identified a possible church site (RMP KD023-020) within close proximity to the works. Previous testing at this church site in 1989 failed to identify the site. Further testing (Licence No. 24E0035) carried out by the author at a possible mound site (KD023-019) 350m to the west found at least three burials aligned east-west. Based on the baseline data review and the results of testing, it was highly likely that the church site was previously destroyed or is located at the site of the mound. The program of archaeological monitoring found no features or finds of archaeological significance.
