A programme of archaeological test-trenching was undertaken at Caheragh, Co. Kerry on 17–18 February 2026. The proposed development site is located within the townland of Caheragh, County Kerry. The site consists of level green fields of agricultural pastureland, and lies within the Zones of Notification for two enclosures (KE040-076—- and KE040-077—-). The proposed works involve the extension of a quarry and associated infrastructure at the site. The details of the development have not been finalised.
The programme of archaeological testing comprised the excavation of fourteen trenches with a total length of 300 linear metres. These trenches were excavated within the footprint of the proposed development to assess the potential for subsurface archaeological remains and were informed by the results of a geophysics survey.
No archaeological features or deposits were identified.
