2026:124 - Athenry, Galway

Monitoring took place of drainage works at 6 locations on Church Street, Athenry, County Galway. The works which entailed the excavations associated with the connection of pipes to the existing network and the insertion of new gullies were undertaken under an extension to license 25E0933. Nothing of archaeological significance was encountered in any of the trenches excavated with the stratigraphy generally consisting of road surface and fills over natural layers. In many areas the ground had been previously disturbed by service excavations.
