The development comprised the laying of a 30m long 63PE/2”ST service from existing 90PE main to connect into Scanda House, Main Street, Rathcoole, Co. Dublin. The development is within the overall Zone of Notification for the Settlement cluster of Rathcoole (DU021-030008—).
The monitoring was carried out at the request of Gas Networks Ireland (GNI) and is not subject to planning.
The author monitored the works on 2 June 2026 in dry and sunny conditions. In general, the stratigraphy comprised tarmac, overlying made ground varying in composition from gravelly clay to reddish sand. The trench was generally excavated to 700mm metres below Modern Ground Level, 500mm in width and 30mm in length. Nothing of archaeological significance was noted.
