Archaeological testing was carried out from 28—30 July 2026 in association with a permitted development at Water Rock, Midleton, County Cork.
Nothing of archaeological significance was identified in the western half of the site, and testing in the southeast of the site showed evidence of recent modern disturbance.
The programme of testing was limited due to constraints. Testing was not completed in the centre of the site, as this area is not part of the permitted development and is under the control of Cork County Council. Additionally, testing in the northeast of the development was not completed at the request of the developer.
