Archaeological test trenching was carried out at Tinahask Upper, Arklow, Co. Wicklow on 18 March 2025. Test trenching revealed prehistoric activity within the footprint of a proposed 74-unit residential development.

While all trenches with the exception of one yielded no archaeological material, Trench 8 uncovered a ploughed-out burnt mound, measuring approximately 5.5m by 5m and 0.2m deep. This feature, composed of heat-affected stones and charcoal-rich silty sand.

The discovery, in conjunction with the two nearby previously recorded burnt mounds at Tinahask, Licence 24E1108, the closest being 210m south of the development site under discussion, suggests a broader pattern of prehistoric settlement.
