Archaeological monitoring was conducted on a site located at St John’s Lane, Enniscorthy. The site is situated beside several Recorded Monuments (WX026-004001, WX026-004002, WX026-004003), which include a 17th-century house, a designed landscape, and a religious house. The 17th-century house is also a Protected Structure (WCC0713). The site consisted of an open field with tree-lined hedgerows.
The topsoil had a depth of 0.5m. The natural ground was a compact, mid-orange to brown, silty clay with frequent small, subangular, and subrounded stones. A lot of rooting activity was present on the site.
No archaeological features or artefacts were uncovered during the monitoring of groundworks at the site.
