The receiving environment is a greenfield site currently under pasture, surrounded by housing developments to the east, south, and west. It is located approximately 700m north of the village of Castlebridge, which lies 4.5 kilometres northeast of Wexford Town.

There are no recorded monuments within the proposed development area. The nearest recorded monument is located 570m to the north, in the townland of Glasganny, where an unclassified ringfort (RMP WX032-030—-), not visible at ground level, is situated. Additional recorded monuments are located approximately 700m to the south in the townland of Castlebridge, comprising a Castle (RMP WX032-031003-), a Church (RMP WX032-031001-), and a Graveyard (RMP WX037-008002). In the broader landscape, approximately 1.2 kilometres to the west in the townland of Ballyboggan Upper, there is a Moated Site (RMP WX032-050—-) and an Enclosure (RMP WX032-049—-).

A total of six test trenches, measuring 706m in total length, distributed throughout the site were excavated to determine whether any features of archaeological significance may be impacted by the proposed development. No finds or features of archaeological significance were uncovered in any of the test trenches.
