This site was initially assessed through geophysical survey (19R0208; Leigh) and test trenching (19E0656; Coen, Korfanty) in 2019 and no features of archaeological significance were exposed. Subsequently archaeological monitoring of topsoil stripping and groundworks for this current development was undertaken from January 2025 until June 2025. The site was stripped by large, tracked excavators. Sod/topsoil and plough soil varying in depth from 0.2m to 0.55m across the site overlay subsoil that consisted of brown and orange boulder clay with pockets of grey sand and silt throughout. Frequent angular stone and shale was evident in the subsoil.
No archaeological features were exposed or identified, and no finds were recovered. The monitoring is now complete, and no further archaeological work is required.
