The development comprises a housing development at Clonbrusk, Athlone, Co. Westmeath. The site is currently brownfield and is bounded to the north by the Coosan Link Road.

There is one known monument in the vicinity – WM029-002—-, a pair of standing stones located roughly 60m to the northwest of the site.

The stratigraphy at the west of the site consisted of shrubs, small trees and overgrowth overlying a 1-1.2m deep layer of peat over a white grey marl at the base of the trench. To the east of the site the stratigraphy was markedly different and comprised a thin layer of topsoil and sod to a depth of 100-200mm overlying a compact grey subsoil with frequent outcrops of bedrock/underlying rocky material. Nothing of archaeological significance was noted.

Testing confirmed that the site has seen substantial disturbance and episodes of excavation and infilling since at least 2013, and little undisturbed material survives. Nothing of archaeological significance was noted.
