Permission was granted in January 2025 for development of land, in accordance with the documents lodged, namely a development consisting of residential houses, including a childcare facility, pedestrian access, open play space, and associated car parking. Provision of public open space. Pedestrian, cycle and vehicular access/egress to Pearse Road. Residential car parking, site landscaping, boundary treatments, public lighting, pedestrian links, service connections and all associated site development works at Pearse Road, Sligo.
Condition 3 of the permission related to archaeology: Archaeological monitoring shall be as per the recommendations in the report received 21/06/2024. Archaeologically monitored topsoil strip in advance of developments.
The monitoring of Phase 1 works took place in May 2025. Nothing of archaeological interest was found in the stripping of the temporary soil storage area, the works compound or the area of Phase 1 developments.
Phase 2 is expected to take place in 2026
