A programme of archaeological test-trenching was undertaken, on 27 July 2025, in the townland of Carrownagullagh, Strokestown, Co. Roscommon in response to a planning condition from Roscommon County Council.
A total of two test trenches totalling 31m were excavated within the footprint of the proposed development site; no archaeological material or features were present in the trenches.
The topsoil ranged from 0.38–0.42m in depth and consisted of loose mid-brownish grey loamy soil. The underlying natural geology consisted of firm mid-greyish brown silty clay.
