The excavation of the site was carried out in October 2025. The disturbed remains of a burnt mound or fulacht fia (C3) were recorded. It was irregular shaped and measured c.14m in length by c.5.25m in width and had a depth of 0.2m. It comprised a compact, mid- to dark blackish-grey silt clay with very frequent small angular stones and charcoal. There was no evidence of a trough or of pits underneath the mound.
Two samples (No. 1 and 2) were taken from burnt spread C3 and submitted for radiocarbon dating and returned Late Bronze Age radiocarbon determinations of 1256 – 1248 Cal BC (CIRAM – 17990- 2936 +/- 30 BP) and 1370 – 1357 Cal BC (CIRAM – 17991 – 2974 +/- 30BP) (Appendix 3).
The mound was heavily disturbed; two active land drains ran diagonally across the mound, and a clay-filled test pit was dug into its south-east corner.
