Archaeological assessment of this site involved the excavation of 2 test trenches totalling 60 linear metres within the footprint of the proposed development. The site has been significantly disturbed; the eastern part contained rubble mixed with spoil to a depth of 1.6m. The south-western part of the site contained remains of a demolished house that extended to 2m in depth and below.
The trenches were excavated to natural subsoil that comprised a stony boulder clay in the northwest and a grey gravel elsewhere. No deposits, features or finds of an archaeological nature were exposed and hence there will be no impact from development at this location. No further archaeological mitigation is recommended.
