Test trenching was carried out at the request of the client in support of a planning application for residential development at Rosehall, Moneymore, Drogheda, Co. Louth. The site is to the northwest of Drogheda town centre, to the west of Bog Lane, with access via Rosehall residential development.
The site was disturbed by previous development.
A total of 14 test trenches were excavated. The topsoil varied in thickness from 0.05-0.2m and was removed onto the natural orange/brown boulder clay. Hardcore stone was present in places associated with the construction phase of an adjacent housing development. This area was stripped of topsoil previously and has become overgrown since. No features of archaeological significance were identified, and no finds were recovered.
