Archaeological investigations (monitoring) were carried out on enabling works and trial pits as part of Phase 1 of the proposed development on behalf of Wills Bros at Middleton House Solar Farm Energy Project, Ballynakill, Middleton, Ballycore, Treanboy, Bunacloy, Newtown townlands, Co. Longford. The monitoring was carried out between January and March 2024 with intermittent dates thereafter. The lands mainly were used as pasture.
Monitoring took place of all ground disturbances associated with the Phase 1 enabling works of ground investigation Test Pits TP1-8 and haul road crossing points at A1-8. No archaeological features or deposits were exposed or identified, and no finds were recovered. Phase 1 of the works is complete, but Phase 2 of the proposed development will soon commence.
