Archaeological monitoring was undertaken of Site Investigations associated with a proposed development at Askeaton, Co. Limerick. The proposed scheme was located within the Zone of Archaeological Potential for the historic town of Askeaton (LI011-092001). Four further recorded monuments located within 100m of the works included a bridge (LI011-092002), Askeaton Castle (LI011-092003; National Monument No. 201) and a building (LI011-092016) and the graveyard associated with the Franciscan Friary (LI011-092007). Askeaton Castle and the Franciscan Friary are additionally protected as a National Monuments in State Care.
All slit trenches and trial pits located in the Zone of Archaeological Potential for the historic town of Askeaton (LI011-092001), which is a recorded monument, were subject to archaeological monitoring between September and October 2025. Archaeological monitoring failed to reveal any areas of archaeological significance.
