Twenty-one linear test trenches with a combined length of 1665m were excavated across a proposed development site in Dromdarrig, Mungret, County Limerick. Natural subsoil or limestone bedrock was identified at a depth of between 0.05m and 0.88m below modern surface level. No difficulties were encountered during the works and all trenches were excavated to the complete extents as outlined in the method statement submitted to the National Monuments Service. No features of archaeological significance were encountered during the testing programme.

A metal detector was used to aid in finds recovery (under detection device licence no. 25R0203), a quantity of metal, in addition to ceramics, was recovered from the topsoil but this did not reveal archaeology, but rather more recent agricultural activity and the spread of domestic waste as fertiliser.
