A second phase of archaeological monitoring in advance of a single residential development at The Bungalow, Bishops Hill, Kilkenny City, was carried in August 2025 (for phase 1 see separate excavation bulletin entry for licence no. 21E0011).

A small area on the north side of the existing structure was stripped of topsoil and a larger area in the garden plot to the east was also stripped. The max depth of excavation was 0.2m, largely comprising the removal of the sod layer and 100mm of topsoil, a dark brown silty sand with a moderate amount of small and medium-sized rounded stones. The east side of the house had a large quantity of imported soil, c.1m, from the adjoining development site. The foundation trenches situated along the north side of the house were excavated to a depth of 0.9- 1.2m with a reduced step mid-way along the extension line towards the east.

No archaeological finds features or deposits were identified during the monitored works.
