Archaeological monitoring took place of upgrade works of a water main covering nearly 2km in length between Clogga Cross and Tubrid, Co. Kilkenny. As part of this project, the northern 300m of the route was identified as an area with archaeological potential, based on the Down Survey map in which a castle is recorded nearby. This was the section subject to archaeological monitoring. The method of groundworks entailed mechanical excavation of pits to accommodate hortizontal pipe drilling. No archaeology was encountered.
