A total of 52 trenches measuring 7306 linear meters were excavated in the course of these works. Planning schedules resulted in the excavation being divided into phases (Phase 1 & 2). Phase 1 took place in Area 1 and focused on the field nearest the quarry and the north and west edges of the fields to facilitate access and screen/berm development. Phase 1 was subdivided into two stages (Phase 1a and Phase 1b) to facilitated crop harvesting. Phase 1a works were undertaken between 9–12 September 2024. Phase 1b works were undertaken between 2–5 December 2024. Phase 2 works investigated the remaining available land within the subject area, in both Area 1 and Area 2. Phase 2 works were undertaken between 13 and 17 January 2025.
Phase 1a works were undertaken between 9–12 September 2024. Trenches 1–12 were excavated totalling 2180 linear metres. These works uncovered nothing of archaeological significance.
Phase 1b works were undertaken between 2–5 December 2024. Trenches 13–26 were excavated totalling 1481 linear meters. Evidence of modern, now levelled, field boundaries was recorded. These works uncovered nothing of archaeological significance.
Phase 2 works investigated the remaining available land within the subject area, in both Area 1 and Area 2. Phase 2 works were undertaken between 13 and 17 January 2025. Trenches 27–52 were excavated totalling 3645 linear meters. Evidence of modern, now levelled, field boundaries was recorded in Area 2
