The test-trenching was carried out in an area designated for the importation of greenfield soil and stone by-product, as defined in the National By-Product Criteria for greenfield soil and stone (BP-N002/2024), to raise the level of existing lands in order to improve the agricultural value of the site located at Garrane, Tralee, Co. Kerry adjacent to the proposed section of the Tralee Northern Relief Road Section A, from Listellick South, Killeen, Garrane, Lisloose, on 18-19 March 2025. The excavation uncovered seven features: the partial remains of a burnt mound spread, or fulacht fiadh (C005) and the remains of six post-medieval brick clamps (C004, C006, C008, C009, C012 and C013).
