2025:002 - Faha East, Kerry

Testing at Faha East, Killarney, Co. Kerry  was undertaken over one day in mid January 2025.  A series of six parallel east-north-east/west-south-west orientated test trenches extending for c.615m were opened across the proposed development site. Recorded topsoil comprised of dark brownish-grey material 0.2m in average thickness. Exposed subsoil was mainly light grey with patches of light yellow in some parts and comprised sandy silty clay with frequent small stones or pebbles. A network of modern stone drains was noted in each of the trenches. Nothing of archaeological interest was discovered and no artefacts were recovered during testing.
