Archaeological monitoring of excavations associated with a wind farm development was carried out between March and November 2025. The development comprises the construction of ten wind turbines and associated infrastructure at Knockranny, Ardderroo and Letter, Co. Galway. The development site is in upland heath and blanket bog with some rough grazing and pockets of commercial forestry. Potential impact on recorded monuments and cultural heritage sites was mitigated by design as these areas were constrained out of consideration for the siting of turbines and associated infrastructure at pre-planning stage. The only features impacted during construction were some field walls, which generally consisted of one or two courses of field boulders. The peat generally ranged between 0.5m and 2m in thickness, and overlay sandy clay, gravel and boulders. No archaeology was found during monitoring.
