Archaeological monitoring of three Site Investigation slit trenches within the existing roadways of North Street and Seatown Road, Swords, County Dublin was carried out, given their proximity to Swords Castle (DU011-034001) which is a National Monument (Nat. Mon. 340).
The monitoring was undertaken in order to inform detailed design of a public realm upgrade project but did not identify any features or deposits of archaeological significance. The road surfaces encountered below ground level all dated to the 20th century.
All site investigations are complete, and no further mitigation is necessary for this phase of the project.
