Archaeological monitoring of groundworks at The RDS Arena, Royal Dublin Society, Donnybrook, Dublin was carried out intermittently between January and October 2025. The development involved the demolition of the Anglesea Stand and Anglesea Terrace and the construction of a new three-level stand and connected hospitality/services building. In order to facilitate the demolition of the old stand and construction of the new one, a number of slit trenches and geotechnical investigation boreholes were excavated at various locations within the study area. The groundworks also included connection to existing services including the installation of a new foul pipework network and connection to Merrion Road. This phase of works was considerably delayed due to the high concentration of existing services and pipework encountered.
No archaeology was found during the course of the groundworks.
