A test excavation was conducted in April and June 2025, prior to the construction of a proposed development. In total, seven trenches were excavated.
The natural material was found to be mainly a compact, mottled mid-greyish-brown and orangish-brown boulder clay with frequent angular and subangular stones. Other areas of more yellowish or grey boulder clay were also present on parts of the site. The topsoil had an average depth of 0.4m.
Faint traces of furrows, probably from modern tillage activity on the site, were found in some of the trenches. No archaeological features or artefacts were found on the site during the test excavation.
