Test trenching took place on 21 April 2025 under strict archaeological supervision. The development area occupies the site of a former factory complex, which was constructed prior to 1995 and demolished in 2014. A total of five trenches and three test pits were excavated across the site measuring c. 122 linear metres. The site was highly constrained by the presence of existing underground electrical, gas and telecoms and the presence of a reinforced concrete slab over much of the site.

Along the west of the site original topsoil was found buried beneath 0.6m of modern dumped material. The natural subsoil was consistent throughout and consisted of light brown compact sandy clay with occasional inclusions of decayed stone. Nothing of archaeological significance was identified.
