Archaeological testing was carried out at a proposed extension to O’Toole’s Transport logistics (warehouse and distribution) complex building at Bay Lane, Mulhuddart, Castleknock, Dublin 15. The approximately 14-acre site is located at a roundabout junction on the Cherryhound Interchange Link Road and Bay Lane, just west of the Bay Lane Quarry. The proposed construction works involve an extension to the southwest and northeast of the existing site, both of which are currently covered by tall, rough grass.

The site, in the townland of Bay, contains no known archaeological monuments, protected structures or listed buildings, however, extensive subsurface archaeological remains have been recorded in the wider area since 2008.

The north-east area of the site was previously subject to a geophysical survey (17R0212) and test trenching (17E0611), however, nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered.

An Archaeological Impact Assessment was conducted for this site in December 2024, recommending that the site undergo archaeological testing. A total of six test trenches were excavated. No features of archaeological significance were identified, and no finds were recovered. There will be no archaeological impact, and no further works are necessary.
