A total of 5 trenches measuring 605 linear meters were excavated at Damastown Avenue and Damastown Rise, Dublin 15 on 6 and 7 January 2025. Constraints including buried utilities and made ground resulted in 605 linear metres being excavated as opposed to the proposed 1130 linear meters
The topsoil comprised a compact dark grey brown stoney clay with frequent modern inclusions. It varied in depth from 0.35m to more than 1.1m. The eastern side of the site contained the deepest layers of made ground containing modern debris and buried utilities. The subsoil was an orange-brown compact stoney clay which was noted across the site in all bottomed trenches.
Nothing of archaeological significance was recorded during the Test Excavation.
