The test excavation of a site in advance of its development at Drumbrick townland, 1km south of Termon village in County Donegal, was carried out on 30 July 2025. The proposed development consisted of the installation of an effluent treatment plant.  The testing was necessary due to the proximity of the proposed development to a burial ground (RMP No. DG044-006) and a megalithic tomb (RMP No. DG044-007) and was carried out as part of the planning process.

The proposed development site was located in a field of pasture with rock outcrop visible in places. No features of archaeological significance were visible within the site.

The writer had carried out testing at an adjacent site, located a short distance to the north of this development, in Drumbrick townland, in September 2024, under Excavation Licence No. 24E946. Nothing of archaeological significance was in evidence.

This testing consisted of the excavation of two trenches, located to best cover the area of the proposed development. The trenches measured 36.7m and 11m long respectively, 1.8-2m wide and 0.3-0.8m deep. The testing revealed modern fill associated with the existing sewerage treatment system and two land drains. Otherwise the stratigraphy consisted of topsoil above natural subsoil. No finds were recovered. Nothing of archaeological significance was in evidence.
