To comply with an NMI request to examine the spoil for archaeological material, a metal detector was used (Licence No. 25R0383). Very few metal objects were identified. Those pieces noted comprised fragments of small, corroded pieces of modern iron/steel bolts and larger pieces of modern iron/steel metal fragments relating to agricultural equipment such as plough blades, flanges and link bars. None of these objects were retained. In addition to the modern metal objects identified, the use of a metal detector on natural deposits from Trenches 4 and 5 confirmed a high metalliferous content during the archaeological test trenching. No archaeological metal objects were identified on the site.
