Test excavation was required as part of an impact assessment needed for a planning application for a single dwelling house, due to its close proximity to a ringfort (CO135-061) and enclosure (CO135-134). The proposed development site consisted of a marked-off area within a larger field of improved pasture located on a south-facing slope overlooking Inchydoney Estuary. Six test trenches were excavated in total, downslope running north-south. Each trench was 2m wide and 36m long with a 12m spacing. A general stratigraphy was recorded of between 0.2m and 0.5m of a mid-grey/brown loamy topsoil which overlay mixed boulder clays and gravels with bedrock close to the surface in the southern half of the site. No archaeology was found.
