Archaeological testing was carried out on the site of a proposed development at Killaghduff, Gortacashel & Drumod Glebe, Swanlinbar, Co. Cavan. The site contains no monuments as listed in the Record of Monuments and Places (RMP) or Sites and
Monuments Record. However, its southern extent falls within the zone of archaeological potential associated with a Recorded Monument, specifically a church (CV007-017) and graveyard (CV007-017001). A ringfort – rath (CV007-016—-) is recorded as adjacent to and to the south of the graveyard (CV007-017001) wall. There
are no Protected Structures, as listed in the Cavan County Development Plan 2022-2028, or sites listed in the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage (NIAH), located within the site or the townland of Killaghaduff.
No archaeological features or deposits were exposed or identified within Trenches 1-5, though a number of modern field drains were identified within Trenches 1-2 and 4-6. However, archaeological features, including three small burnt spreads (C4-C6), were identified within Trench 6, which will be impacted by the proposed access road alignment.
