A programme of archaeological monitoring associated with the North – South 400kV Interconnector project (Counties Armagh and Tyrone section) was carried out at ten tower locations across six townlands: Turleenan (Towers 1 – 2), Lisroan (Towers 3 – 6), Ballydoo (Tower 54), Maghery Kilcrany (Tower 61), Cavanagarvagh (Tower 80), and Rawes (Tower 88)
The results of the monitoring revealed very limited archaeological activity. Only one archaeological feature was identified—a shallow, charcoal-rich pit located at Tower 54. This feature was situated outside the tower foundation area and was preserved in situ following appropriate recording and protection measures. In addition, two stray lithic finds—a broken flint blade and a flint flake—were recovered at Towers 1 and 2 respectively. However, both were found out of context and did not represent in-situ archaeological deposits.
