Archaeological test excavations took place on a greenfield site adjacent to the M11 motorway in Ashford, Co. Wicklow to inform a future planning application. Test trenches were located to investigate the results of a geophysical survey under licence no. 23R0448 (Leigh, J. 2023). Nine trenches were mechanically excavated under constant archaeological supervision. Many of the geophysical anomalies were associated with naturally occurring patches of burning. No features, finds or deposits of archaeological significance were identified during the course of testing.
