A programme of archaeological monitoring for a proposed development was undertaken at Burrow Road, Rosslare, Co. Wexford. The Rosslare Coastal Erosion and Flood Relief Scheme (CEFRS) has been established in the Government’s National Development Plan 2018–2027, and officially approved by Wexford County Council in December 2021.
The proposed scheme comprises a c. 2 km-long wall or embankment on the seaward side of Strand and Burrow Roads, replacing the existing informal embankment created by residents.
No archaeological features or deposits predating the late 19th–20th centuries were encountered during the programme of archaeological monitoring and metal detection.
