Archaeological monitoring of ground disturbance works was undertaken from May to July of 2023 and in March 2024. The work was undertaken by David McIlreavy with the support of Sam Fairhead of IAC Archaeology in the townlands of Tullabeg, Medophall, Medophall Demense and Ballyclogh, Co. Wexford.
Observed stratigraphy across the development consisted of a mid-brown to grey silty clay topsoil, with a maximum observed depth of 0.3m. Underlying the topsoil a light brown to yellow sandy clay was identified as natural subsoil, although some localised variation including patches of gravel were recorded within this surface.
Features of a modern provenance were uncovered in addition to a number of 19th-century percolation drains. Two parallel shallow ditches, orientated north-south, were recorded traversing an access road east of the main storage area associated with the development. Pieces of rusted fencing wire recovered from the basal fill material of both, and neither features were considered to be archaeological.
Nothing of archaeological significance was recorded during the monitoring programme and no further works are considered necessary in respect of this development.
