Archaeological monitoring of single residential dwelling took place in a green field site.

The area of monitoring was defined by the footprint of all areas subject to construction, namely the dwelling, garage, driveway, etc. They were topsoil stripped to achieve a clear view of the surface of natural subsoils within the proposed footprint of construction works. The excavation did not extend to an examination of subsoils where non-intrusive landscaping works were proposed. The total amount of topsoil stripped was approximately 730m².

Subsoil was composed of a light brown sandy clay-silt with frequent sub-angular inclusions of sandstone derived cobbles, pebbles, gravels and grits. The absence of larger stones probably represents past agricultural clearing.

No finds or features of any archaeological value were uncovered during archaeological testing. The only features visible were remains of deep plough ridges (plough scars) trending roughly north-south.
