Archaeological monitoring was carried out on a new town park development on the south-west side of Castlepollard town, on the south-eastern side of the R394 Mullingar road. Two parts of the development were subject to archaeological monitoring, the new park itself and the footpaths through the woods at the south-west. Resurfacing of roads at the east was not monitored. In the park topsoil was seen to overlay glacial till with occasional outcropping limestone bedrock. Some modern waste was observed. Topsoil stripping for footpaths through the woods revealed thicker topsoil. Former estate paths, noted on historic maps snaking through the trees, were encountered in a few locations. These paths presented as compact stone surfaces up to 3m wide.

No archaeological features or deposits were observed on the site during monitoring.
