Monitoring was conducted of works associated with the upgrade of the R446 and R389 junction in the eastern area of the Zone of Notification for the historic town of Kilbeggan (WM038-017). The works here entailed stripping the asphalt road surface to a depth of 0.2m by a roadplaner in order to resurface the road. No excavation below the road surface took place.
