Test trenching of the site of a proposed milking parlour, manure slab and loose shed adjacent to an existing farm was undertaken. The proposed development site lies directly east of Lunestown house (formerly Charleville House) and its associated outbuildings (NIAH Reg No: 15402407& 15402408, RPS No: 024-022 & 024-023) and within the former grounds of the 18th-century demesne. The north-eastern corner of the proposed development site is within the Zone of Notification of WM024-073 (Ringfort - rath) and its associated sub-monument WM024-073001 (Hut site), though no groundworks are planned in this area.
Test trenching works did not locate any archaeological features, deposits or artefacts.
