An application was made for full planning permission to construct a dwelling house along with domestic garage and treatment system with percolation area, and all ancillary site development works, at Carrowgarve, Tulsk, Co. Roscommon.
Due to the fact that the site was located within the bounds of SMR RO08-056—- (Archaeological Complex), Roscommon County Council requested an archaeological impact assessment as part of a Further Information Request.
A series of three test trenches were opened across the proposed development area, positioned to cover the access, dwelling, garage and service lines, on 2 September 2024. The only feature of interest was uncovered running across the line of Trench 1, but the presence of a plastic water pipe confirmed its modern date.
Nothing of archaeological significance was recorded in the testing, particularly no evidence that the relic field system RO028-239002- extended into the site, nor was any other evidence found associated with the wider archaeological complex RO028-056—.
