2024:404 - Ballintubber, Roscommon

The site is located in the northern end of the village of Ballintubber, Co. Roscommon. Permission is being sought to demolish the existing dwelling and construct a replacement dwelling house and all ancillary site development works. In their response to the planning application, the local authority requested further information in the form of an archaeological impact assessment. It was proposed to undertake archaeological testing the subject site via a series of 3 machine-dug archaeological test trenches located along the lines of the main foundation trenches of the proposed new build. As nothing of archaeological interest was uncovered in any of the trenches, it was concluded that there was no archaeological reason why development could not proceed on this project, subject to discussions with and the approval of the relevant heritage authorities.
