Archaeological test excavations took place on the site of a proposed housing development which is located at Church Lane, Kells, Co. Meath (Town Parks townland). The site is currently occupied by a 1920's bungalow and was heavily disturbed in the recent past. The test excavation was undertaken on 16 September 2024.

Two test trenches were excavated across the site totalling 40 linear metres. The topsoil across the site consisted of a black loamy garden soil. This varied from 0.15‑0.45m in depth and overlay a light brownish-yellow compact stony clay subsoil. Two features were recorded towards the south of Trench 2, opposite the gable of the existing bungalow. The first was a 0.7m wide modern drain containing red brick and refuse. The second was a south-west/north-east aligned ceramic pipe, functioning as an active sewer.

No buried archaeological sites, features or objects were recorded in the course of the assessment.
