As part of the Trim Millennium Bridge Site investigation monitoring works in the vicinity of the western side of Trim Castle National Monument No. 514 (ME036-048004 et al.) the existing pillory placed here around 2014 required removal and relocation to allow for the proposed construction of the new Millennium Bridge. On inspection, the pillory proved to be rotten and a new one to the same design was constructed and placed in the new location. The original location was ITM 680186, 756853 and the new location is ITM 680145, 756812 (approx. 57m to the south-west of original location). The new pillory location had been chosen to allow for Trim Castle keep or the nearby cannon to be in the background of any photographs. These works were archaeologically monitored on 27th June 2024.

Present ground level is 55.13m OD. The foundation hole for the new pillory measured 0.9m east-west x 3.75m and it was 0.75m deep. From the base, the sequence was redeposited red-brown silty clay 0.25m overlain by modern chippings 0.25m which were in turn overlain by modern landscaping topsoil and sod 0.25m. The base red-brown silty clay is redeposited built-up ground to the present carpark that was constructed in the 1990s.

The works had no archaeological impact or significance.
