The development is large in scale and is subject to archaeological testing. Consultation has taken place between the Applicant and the Senior Archaeologist from the planning department in Mayo County Council. A plot of ground fronting to the Garryduff Road was previously tested in 2020, under licence number 20E0289. Nothing of archaeological significance was found.
Test excavations found that the topsoil varied from 0.52–0.78m deep. The natural was
generally a brownish-orange subsoil with traces of decayed stone and evidence of root burning. Nothing of archaeological interest was found.
